Marcelli Victorious in New Jersey
Millville, NJ (June 13th 2009) – Canadian racer Kyle Marcelli driving the number #37 car for Intersport Racing turned a second place qualifying effort into a well deserved win during Saturday's feature race. The race is the first of the double header weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park.
The 45-minute race saw Marcelli as far back as fifth place by the midway point. Continuing to push and run consistent laps around the New Jersey Motorsports Park circuit, Marcelli picked one off at a time to take the lead with about 10 minutes to go. Never looking back, the Barrie resident crossed the stripe after 38 laps to take victory.
“We arrived here at NJMP and showed very fast pace right from that start. The Intersport Racing crew has done a great job and our team effort paid off. ” Said Marcelli.
Marcelli is running double duty this weekend as he is also taking part in the Skip Barber National series presented by Mazda. Able to show his ability to adapt to the very different characteristics of the two race cars Marcelli jumped out of his IMSA Lites L1 machine into the Skip Barber 2-litre cars and raced to a second place finish in the weekend's double header.
Stay tuned as tomorrow Marcelli hits the track again for qualifying and race two in both series.
Kyle would like to thank Lafarge, GP Masonry and Landscaping Supplies, Alpinestars, The Robert Simpson Brewing Company, Simplepay.ca and Intersport Racing for their support.
