Kyle Marcelli Goes Racing for a Cure

Bowmanville, Ontario (May 2nd 2010) – American Le Mans Series driver Kyle Marcelli stepped out of his regular seat in the #11 Primetime Race Group LMPC entry and into the seat of a 4-cycle go-kart this past weekend as he participated in the 3rd annual Lupus Grand Prix presented by Toronto Tirecraft.

The two hour endurance race to raise money and awareness for Lupus research was held at Mosport International Raceways karting circuit. Kyle was teamed up with event coordinator Bill Bryan, Brian Graham Racings FF1600 driver Taylor Near and gentleman Mike Andrews under the Team Lupus banner.

With overcast skies and cool temperatures 13 teams made up of 52 drivers took the green flag. Kyle Marcelli driving for team Lupus started 13th, racing to the front Kyle soon took the race lead and began to extend a gap eventually handing the wheel over to teamate Bill Bryan. All the drivers did a great job and had a wonderful time racing for a cure. As the checkered flag was waved by Pat Baymen, who has continued to cope with challenges of Lupus, the team Lupus driver of Taylor Near crossed the line taking 4th place.

"Having a driver with the character and talent of Kyle Marcelli at a charity race such as this was quite a fantastic experience. It is one thing to show up, donate a few bucks, and say “I support the cause” but for Kyle to continue coming back year after year to support the cause and the event is quite an honour." Says Bill Bryan – Lupus Grand Prix Coordinator.
