Kyle Marcelli: The Early Year’s

Born February 23rd, 1990 – As most Canadian’s do, Kyle started out on a pair of ice skates playing hockey on ice rinks and outdoor ponds across Ontario. However, before he could even walk there were signs of a passion for cars and speed. Kyle’s two uncles (Mike Marcelli and Peter Marcelli) were both motorcycles racers themselves. It was Kyle’s uncle Mike that first took him to the local rental go-kart facility in Goodwood, Ontario. From that day forward all he dreamed of was a career in auto racing. Kyle sat his father down at dinner one night to express his desire for being a racing driver, a few weeks had passed then his father (Tony Marcelli) brought Kyle to purchase a used 4-cycle go-kart. It was agreed that once a week after school, Tony would take Kyle to the school parking lot to practice. After a summer of driving around basketball nets and parking curbs, Kyle debuted in his first race at the Simcoe Kart Club in 2001. Kyle picked up the racing line around the circuit quite naturally and with his father and uncle watching from the sidelines, Kyle raced to a second place finish in his first ever go-kart race.

Kyle Marcelli: The Business Man

It’s no secret that auto racing is an expensive sport and Kyle learned that lesson at a young age. Kyle’s father (Tony Marcelli) is a stonemason by trade, after over a decade of lying stone, he pursued his dream of becoming a custom home builder. The family’s ability to finance Kyle’s race career was at a minimum, which meant Kyle had to be creative and work hard off the track to secure a race budget. Many of Kyle’s competitors from karting moved onto single-seater series like Formula BMW and Formula Atlantic. However, for Kyle the budget required just wasn’t available. Kyle and his father looked at options and spoke to some key influencers like Ron Fellows. It was decided that Kyle would contest the Canadian Formula Ford Championship, which required a budget of $50,000. Kyle took it upon himself to call every name in his father’s phone book asking from $100 to $500 and would provide a receipt for tax right off. By the end of winter, Kyle had raised $25,000.00. Kyle then approached a local action sports store and proposed a sponsorship deal that he would work three days a week after school in exchange for $5,000.00 in sponsorship. Kyle and his father eventually raised the $50,000.00 and signed with Brian Graham Racing, a local team. That year, 2007 Kyle went on to win the Canadian Formula Ford Championship. Since then, Kyle has sat in boardrooms across North America selling his brand and proposing sponsorship opportunities to advance his career as a racing driver.

Kyle has successfully put together partnerships with Lafarge – a Global leader in construction material, MBRP Inc. – a North American leader in performance exhaust, DynaPep Energy – the world’s first micro-energy shot, Merchant Services Ltd – a full-service credit card processing company etc. It’s been Kyle’s hard work and determination off the track that fuels him to be a race winner behind the wheel.

Kyle Marcelli: The Racing Driver

Today, at 22 years of age, Canada’s Kyle Marcelli has established himself as a professional racing driver and one of North America’s rising stars in professional auto racing across the globe. After a successful karting and single-seater career, Kyle made his rookie debut into the pinnacle of sports car racings, the American Le Mans Series in 2010. Since then Kyle has built a reputation of being a consistent front-runner earning six pole positions, three wins, thirteen podiums and five lap records.

2012 also represented Kyle’s first taste of GT competition as he was hired by Pfaff Automotive Group to contest the Porsche GT3 Cup Canada. Although an ineligible entry, Kyle adapted well to the different driving style and won every race.

While Kyle’s second home is the podium, his more permanent residence is Barrie, Ontario. Following his career aspirations of professional auto racing; he’s a consummate professional both on and off the track.

Kyle represents his passion, sport, sponsors, team and fans proudly and effectively.  He’s winning, engaging and always visible.
